Mini 'remastered'

Post by techbod »

Obliquely related to Eleven stuff, has anyone seen the David Brown mini offering now for sale AKA the Mini 'remastered'?

Its an original shape Mini that has undergone a massive amount of work with nearly all of it replaced, modernisation of the interior, and a price tag from £70 K - £100K depending on model. You do wonder who exactly would buy one at that price. Anyway the Eleven related bit is that they have stuck with the A series, 75bhp for the 1275cc standard model version, 98bhp for the 1300cc in the limited edition Monte Carlo version.
The blurb says:
--
"The original engine has undergone a complete transformation, having been completely rebuilt with brand new parts throughout and tuned to perfection. The standard car now produces 30% more power than the original unit. The engines outer body has been cleaned and painted, whilst the oil filler cap and filter are colour coded with the cars exterior paint selection.

The power increase is perfectly mated to a manual five speed transmission that channels the cars energy through every shift and encouraging you to change gear, simply for the pleasure of it."

(Wonder how many BHP a colour coded oil filler cap adds? )

The result does look like a very nice mini, but I don't think the rear lights suit the car, and again there is the price tag.
