Auto Express Magazine 1000th issue commorative

Not really Westy related, but our host at a recent dinner party gave me an interesting souvenir: a Smiths speedometer set into the top of a turned alloy cylinder on a wooden base. The odometer and the trip odometer are both at 1000 and there is no adjuster to change them. The fellow who gave it to me said he got it when he worked as an editor at Auto Express on the occasion of their 1000th issue, but there is nothing engraved on it to indicate that. Still it feels nice and solid and looks cool on my bureau! He also tossed a zippo lighter he got on a Lotus press junket into the box, it has a badge in Lotus colors with Super 7 on it, no idea how old any of this is, but I suspect it goes back to the 70's. We all had a laugh at some of his pictures and those 70's clothes! illustrating old car test articles.
