A bit of race vid

Post by gridgway »

Having just joined and intro'ed myself, it was suggested that racing exploits might be of interest, so I thought I'd test the water with a bit of F2 at Silverstone...

Very nice.

It puts my 6 hour drive round Mallory Park in a Marlin Roadster to shame 🙂

sounds fab, really enjoy Mallory.

Should be doing the Equipe 6 hour race at Donington in a few weeks time in my Elan if we get the motor together in time!

Immense! Filming was superb. The telemetry looked a bit off - what actually were you revving to, Graham? 7500? More?

Must be brilliant sitting there - thanks for sharing the vid!

Thanks! I had the max revs on the smartycam rev counter widget set to 7k so when it went over the system cleverly halves it!

For the BDG it happily and normally revs to 9,500. If I am testing I might keep it to 9,000 to get my eye in and do some laps when not going for a fast one. I'm allowed to use 10k in the race if needed, it is often geared to 9,600 at the end of the straight at any circuit (about 152mph at the end of Hangar Straight).

The gearbox broke last season and it saw a 13,000 blip  It didn't break or have any signs of duress, but we did a mini-rebuild (valves, shells and bearings) just in case
