When you have the tank out, it'll be a good opportunity to drill a small hole (mine is 7 mm) through the pontoon at the lowest point beneath the tank, to enable fuel to leak out should the tank spring a leak
The IVA inspector noted the lack of a hole as a failure point on my car.
The requirement is buried in the IVA manual and not always picked up on!

That's on the plan as is an earth strap. Both are on my to-do list from reading your build diary.
I guess I also need a hole for the overflow pipe to come out of.
For where the fuel pipes leave the pontoon I assume I need to find grommets for the holes to stop the risk of the pipe rubbing.
One last question - fuel pump, is the little Facet solid state pump [https://classiccarbs.co.uk/product/webe ... it-130bhp/] enough or do I need the larger cylindrical one?

Yes, that overflow hole does need a rubber grommet for the hose to pass through.
Looking forward along the car, I originally secured the overflow hose to the vertical classes member (the usual position), but I found on two occasions that the pipe had developed small splits at the top of the curve due to the tight radius.
I've now reduced that radius by bending the (now longer) hose to the right instead (but still exiting through the same hole). It's only secured now at the tank and at the pontoon grommet, but it shouldn't crack now. I've slid some conduit over it to ensure it doesn't chaff against anything, although it won't contain fuel under normal circumstances!
I don't know what fuel pressure SU carbs need, but my Weber requires 2.5 to 3.0 psi, that sits within the range of the pump you've shown. The Facet pump I use delivers more than that, so I fitted a Malpassi Filter King (with built-in pressure gauge port). You may get away without one, but if you need to reduce/ adjust the pressure you'll be stuffed.
Just make sure you fit the pump outside of the engine bay (i.e. in the open area of the pontoon) to prevent overheating resulting in lowered pressure etc. This has been an issue with other owners in the past, and having to wait for the pump to cool down by the side of the road!

That all makes sense, I'll look at pipe runs once I can get the tank in and out properly. Not selected fuel pipe yet but Gates Barricade always gets a good write up on WSCC.
Thanks for confirming on the fuel pump. Filter king was already on the list, I have one on the SEiW and will get one with a gauge so I can make sure both are running at sensible pressures. Most engine bay images I've seen put the filter king on the same side of the bay as the carb(s).
Plan is for a DCOE 45 as that'll match the SEiW and keep serviceable parts ordering simple. Fuel pipe on the SEiW is 27 years old so I'll be replacing that at the same time as running the pipe on the XI.
Am trying not to think about the engine too much as my wallet gets very stressed every time I do.
