Here's an update and some pics.

Gary has fabricated and tacked the new mild-steel pan to the cut-off sump. The new height to flange is 130mm vs the original 165+mm. We've got one baffle installed and will put another small one in to reduce cornering slosh.

Once the prototype is welded up and checked watertight, it'll be primed and I'll install it on my car.

We're going to chamfer the leading edge and add provision for a rider-strip at the rear, so the engine back-plate is protected.

The material is 1.5mm steel sheet. The original sump is around 1.2mm pressed steel.

We are in two minds about the finish. Plating has a minumum order (around £125), so I'd need to have them done as a job lot to make the maths work. Powder-coating is also an option. Or spraying externalls and leaving the inside bare metal.

We're going to use soda-blasting (soluble medium) as it's more gentle on the metal.

I'll start a thread for anyone to register their interest. I have another sump coming, so we could almost offer these on an exchange basis.

We'd like to get a good idea of numbers, so we can get the sheet CNC-folded. If each box is fabricated manually, then each is pretty much a prototype and the costs rise. A run of, say, 10 fabricated boxes would make much more sense.

I'll post the pics. Please feel free to comment/suggest etc.

The rear tab is a rider to protect the ring gear. If the trial fit goes OK, it'll be widened appropriately. Likewise, we have included a chamfered front to help ride over any obstacles, rather than present a flat face.
