[attachment=0]DSCN4388.JPG[/attachment]Hi, Andy in New York. Just bought a series one XI and found this page, GREAT!!! My kit has sat a while, but has never been completely built. Looking where to begin? Was there an assembly manual. I would love to see one complete, and I live in New York? Anyone local or have a site that they used for their build? Any way, Glad to be aboard. This is I believe an early production? Does anyone know where the serial numbers are? No gas tanks? where do they go. Who knows about interior options, and!!! I need a center section windshield. Thanks.

Andy, since you are in the US, try asking your questions on the Yahoo Westfield eleven group. It is very active as far as technical matters go and is listened in to by the US Westfield importer who chimes in when he can help. We just had a thread last week all about replacement windscreens. Jan, who posts on here and there as Westfield 129, actually wrote the manual for the new series cars IIRC. I am sure we will be able to hook you up with all you need from US based suppliers wherever possible. No exchange fees and lower shipping!!

But keep using this forum too since there is little overlap between the two, both are very helpful. I keep an eye on both daily.

That car has been modified, with different damper mounting positions on the rear axle, rod ends in place of the original bushings for the trailing links, and fabricated front suspension arms. These parts are substantially different from the original factory bits. There have been some frame modifications and additional frame members added to that chassis. Modifications to the rear section, moving the dampers inward, to the rear floor, and the passenger compartment floor. There is also a roll hoop added to the scuttle section, I guess for the forward part of the roll cage, required by SCCA.

I don't know what parts were with the car that came with the original kit, as the seller was not forthcoming with all of the information that I had asked for.

The chassis number, if there is one, should be on the top, forward most frame tube. It will be a small square piece of metal welded to the tube, with numbers or letters. Sometimes, this is covered by the forward top radiator support.

The car is early production.

The fuel tank goes in the right side adjacent the passenger compartment foot well. The fuel tanks are not "side mounted. There is a well to the right of the scuttle floor that holds the roughly 5 gallon tank.

Check out the Yahoo group westxiownersbuildersdrivers site. Lots of pictures of the chassis so you can get orientated.

There are also over 100 build photos of my RHD car on the Westfield_Eleven Yahoo site as well. Check the photo albums under "The Last XI". Just page through until you come to the fuel tank installation images. All of the car's assemblies are covered in the album. I have a little updating to do, as the car is actually finished except for the chassis setup, registration and insurance.

I will complete the albums on both Westfield XI sites next week when I finally take the thing out of the garage, and finish the chassis setup documentation photos.
