I'm thinking of going to Prescott on Sunday, anyone else planning to go? There is a Westy 11 Climax on the entry list amongst many other interesting
machines!
Regards all

I got a few pics of the climax engine W11 and will try to post some in the next few days.... How was Combe JonC? Prescott really is a lovely place with a nice atmosphere and the drive due West from Leighton Buzzard in to Gloucestershire was something else, even in a 13 year old Peugeot diesel 306! It's only when you leave the South East of England that you realise exactly how crowded it is!! Next year in an Eleven I hope!!

The Autumn Classic was just brilliant!
It was the day after my birthday, so I wandered up with a very comfy camp chair and some real ale and sat in the sunshine watching the racing. The Healeys were really going for it!
I think they would like to emulate the Revival - albeit much, much smaller and a quieter event. Hopefully it'll gain a following in the future. Like the Thruxton Easter Revival (or whatever it's called) that I went to, it's good to see historic racing getting more popular. I went to see JL racing the Chevron at Thruxton, and just walking through the pit area with all the Formula Junior and other racers was just brilliant. The car-parking chap even put all the "interesting" cars in a row. His "private collection" as he put it!!
Combe is very accessible. I'll upload my pics to Photobucket overnight, but you can wander through, chat with the drivers and engineers and get RIGHT up close tot he cars. Even Nick Mason's Masarati 250F was being demoed (with a P1), and I was right next to it taking photos. The man himself wasn't there, but it was nice to see he sent his car over for our delectation.
Perhaps the best bit was an Aston (DB3?) just parked up outside the caff!! Nah, the best bit was the Lotus IX I had a look at and a lovely sunset race (he almost won!) to finish the day.
All in all, a great afternoon out. I'll be going next year, deffo.

You should have mentioned you were going to the Easter meet. I was there too. More to the point, it takes about twelve minutes to drive from home to our hangar at Thruxton. The Historic Roadsports race was won by Roger Waite, who's been at the top of the bmi seniority for about seven years now! (We still bid within our own bubble now that we're "integrated".) If you're coming next year, let me know....

Here is the link to my Autumn Classic sildeshow. Phone photos, so some a bit ropey I'm afraid. Some showing close up engineering detail (Girling AN calipers, suspension, pedals, engines, Lotus IX dash etc).
Worth a flick through. It's 159 hi-res images, so might be slow on a dial-up connection!

You can click on an individual image to see a full-size version. For some reason Photobucket want's me to install a new Java version which I already have. Hmmm. I wouldn't bother with that, as I wonder why it's asking from a suspicious address.
If you wish to get emailed a particular image, drop me a line.
