Westfield Elevens

Suddenly it seems the market is flodded with Westfield XI .

This looks like a series 2, and I do like the color!
Again the pricetag is in the high twenties, which seems a lot. On the other hand, prices in the classic market are rocketing upwards.
New record sales at classic car auctions (Bonhams, R&M etc.) are made almost weekly. With prices for the real cars going out of reach for almost everybody, demand for (decent) replica's increases, and so will the prices of these replicas. I wouldn't really be surprized in these Westies would actually sell for these figures

The thing that drives the price of the Westfields is that a fully optioned kit costs around £17,000, plus your VAT. the last kit that I did here in the US was $28,000 USD , shipped). Now, add the cost of the donor, and rebuilding the parts, plus a properly built engine and a CR 5 speed... It looks as though an additional £10,000 or so is about right for a nicely built kit.

It is not so much that the price of replicas is climbing with the cost of the original cars, but that the kits are getting to be expensive to acquire, and to build. This is a result of the kits being easier to build, having better fit and finish. Also, the cost of donor cars is going up, as they become rare due to the fact that they are collectable as well, and the prices are climbing. They are not really "donors" anymore.
