OK, just had a look with one of my new ones (Borg & Beck branded) and yes it looks like your "A". B in your photos does look to have a much shorter thread. If you bought that recently I think if it were me I'd want my money back! It isn't fit for purpose.
If it is of any help, my trackrod ends came from Peter May.

Once bitten, twice shy.....
So much of the pattern stuff sold by "reputable suppliers" (Moss, by any chance?) is Chinese junk. Finding the correct (usually British) stuff takes time and costs much more, but it's so worth it for reliability and peace of mind. The Westie invites you to drive it in a spirited fashion ( ) but affords you bugger-all crash protection, so you want as high a state of mechanical integrity as you can achieve.
I refer you back to our earlier discussion on wheel bearing kits......!

Re: Odd Arms
Could not agree more, I am now much more careful when purchasing new components, even from the top three suppliers.
The face adjusted front wheel bearings are now fitted and are perfect, first pattern part "non face adjusted" set I fitted just rattled.
Daggers
