Looks like he's just down the road from me so I may try to rekindle his enthusiasm with my own tales of lengthy builds...

Speaking of which, how is it with yours? I’m not on the WSCC any more…. I’m particularly curious as to how it made it out of the workshop, if that’s happened…
Also, tell the guy there is a nutter out there who has been collecting bits for ten years and hasn’t even started yet….!

Yes I contacted the chap. He really is going to sell the XI due to young family commitments etc., and he reckons he has some interested parties. I bet he does at that price... I wanted a nose around the car just to reassure myself that others builders exist, but I doubt that'll happen.

I'm still plodding on (and I appreciate you asking). I've had a minor interlude of insulating and fitting out a massage treatment room for my wife (a long story), but as a result I now have a long garage and a drag strip of a driveway leading directly from the garage to the road .

The massage room is virtually complete so I'll be back on the XI by March. Unfortunately I haven't touched it for so long I'll need to refer to my notes to remember where I got to, but it's the final push now towards IVA .

I reckon this year is the one you'll get stuck into your build. Every journey starts with the first step - or something like that!

Shame he’s selling. I drove my car three times last year, due to a young family. XI times will return. If only he could sit on his project for a few years. That’ll be a regretful sale.

No his mind was sadly made up. The re-built engine alone would be worth almost half the same price!

Yes looks like it's still available. At that price I'd thought it'd be snapped up, especially considering the current price of the kit.
